Good morning everyone and welcome to November,
I wanted to take a moment and provide some updates on the work done at Morley this weekend. Josh (KE8CPD) is responsible for this work and our club owes him appreciation. Others, also have provided parts and pieces to the project earlier on (N8THN, AA8JR and KD8HNF-SK) and we appreciate those contributions also. We were contacted as officers by the tower owner with some requests that we coordinate some efforts to improve the site. This needed to happen before the snow flew and given the situation of COVID and gathering, this was difficult. Josh took this solely on his own shoulders to make sure this work got done in one day and before the snow.

The lean-to was rebuilt (location coordinated with the tower owner):

The batteries have been removed from the tractors and put on battery tenders at Josh’s house – we will figure out if these can be stored in the Morley shack possibly with buying a couple battery tenders.
One of the tractors has no gas tank (mouse destroyed it). We are going to order a new gas tank. The yellow tractor Jack had removed the wheel from and we will get the wheel repaired and replaced.

The door on the building has been replaced. This must have been a huge undertaking for Josh on his own and it turned out great.

We need to add a blank or a deadbolt but for now used the original handle and the new handle to make it work.

As requested, the station’s callsign and a nice sign have been added to the door. Thanks to Josh for printing this!

As for property being stored there,
The grill has been removed – Dave (the tower owner) has requested we not store the grill there. If it is yours, please get with us this week to have it returned.

We really appreciate the use of the site and want to be good tenants. While our budgets are extremely limited this year due to covid, we really want to keep Morley looking nice.

If you get a chance to express your appreciation to Josh for all this hard work - he deserves the thanks. Josh has been instrumental in keeping our sites up and running since taking over the technical director position for our club. Without him, Morley probably would be off the air, the Fusion repeater and other repeaters routinely down. Josh is a behind the scene unsung hero that keeps our repeater functioning and we want him to know how much he is appreciated.

THANKS TO ALL WHO GIVE OF THEIR TIME AND EFFORTS AS VOLUNTEERS TO KEEP LARC A GREAT CLUB TO BE PART OF!
