THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC SERVICE EVENTS are in need of amateur radio volunteers.
Consider volunteering for at least ONE EVENT PER YEAR.

NOARC:
North Ottawa Amateur Radio Club is looking for help for the Coast Guard Grand Parade, Saturday, August 3. Meet 7:00AM at the Russ’ Restaurant located at 1313 S. Beacon. Those wishing to assist with public health and welfare (much like Tulip Time help) should meet 10:30AM at the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety building, 525 Washington Avenue.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 11:45AM. Talk-in is 145.49-(94.8Hz).
There are parking lots on Columbus Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets, just north of the Public Safety building. Please note that Columbus is a one-way street, heading east only. Approach the parking lot from the north from Fulton and 5th St., going south on 5th St. The entrances to the lots are blocked, so identify yourself as a radio volunteer to the attendants. Bring your handheld radio programmed to the 145.49 repeater, wear comfortable shoes, and dress for the weather. In previous years, a lunch has been provided after the parade in the Fire Station on the corner next to the Public Safety building, so that may very well be the case again this year. If not, elephant ears are within walking distance!
It is very important that if you can help, please contact John Fischer at kc8uny at arrl.net as soon as possible.

KCEST:
EAT DIRT MUD RUN. This is a fun and sometimes very busy event. We need 20-30 people to properly cover the course. The event is on Saturday August 24th at the Kentwood Community Church 1200 60th St in Kentwood. If you are not a licensed ham radio operator and would like to help please feel free to sign up, we will still be able to put you to work. Events like this are a great opportunity to get public exposure for the group. Our primary duties will be runner safety. We will position personal along the course to monitor the runners. We may also be called to perform other functions if necessary, but only if they do not interfere with our primary task. Most positions will be stationary posts. If you wish to bring a chair to sit in while monitoring the course you may. Please remember that many of the positions will be in the sun, so remember to bring proper protection. Food will be provided.
To give you an idea of what we will be covering I have attached last year's course map. I am sure things will be a little different this year, but it will be very close.
